A Quick Guide to Preventing Oily Skin

Here we’ve assembled a quick guide to help those dealing with oily skin and it’s problems.

    • Drink plenty of water
    • Avoid heavy makeup and cream
    • Stay away from products with parabens

  • Use gentle cleansers without harsh skin irritants
  • Do not wash your face too often
  • Use light moisturizers
  • Exercise regularly
  • Avoid dairy, and sugar
  • Eat lots of fruits and veg
  • Consume omega-3 rich foods such as fish
  • Use clay, and mask to draw out oils
  • Use oil free sunscreen
  • Try dry oils such as Argan and Jojoba oil
  • Try Essential Oils such as Tea Tree, Lavender, Lemon and Rosemary. Remember to always patch test essential oils before applying them to skin.
  • Use carrier oils such as Jojoba oil, Grapeseed oil, Neem (very pungent). We get a lot of questions about adding more oil to already oily skin however adding certain oils to skin can actually help balance your skins sebum production.

  1. I have always used jojoba oil with great success and will have to try grapeseed oil too. It really helps not to use a ton of makeup, which clogs pores.

  2. I did a lot of research regarding which carrier oils were best for oily skin. Grapeseed and neem definitely fall into that category. Any oils high in linoleic acid are great.

  3. Love coconut oil. I have grapeseed oil and like that too. Haven’t tried some of the other carrier oils, but would like to.
